Buying Real Estate in the British Virgin Islands

BVI Alien Landholders License
Foreigner's buying property in the British Virgin Islands are required to apply to the BVI Government for an Alien Land Holding License, a process that can take time to complete.

Each person who's name appears in the Alien Land Holding License Application Form is required to pay US$200.00. Every company that appears on the Applications Form is required to pay US$300.00. Additionally, each person or company is also required to pay US$600.00 on the approval of the License.

Once the Alien Landholders License is approved, the property owner is required to develop any land that is purchased within the period stated by the government on the approved license, with such development commitment generally being for a sum not less than US$250,000.
